The Corpse Washer

This was recommended to me by my favorite professor in college, and I'm so glad I read it. The Corpse Washer deals with grief, internal conflict, family dynamics, romance, etc. all within the context of Saddam Hussein's dictatorship and the United States 2003 brutal invasion and occupation of Iraq. It's a novel about war, but more so about one man's choices as he tries to navigate life during it.
